Kim Lawrence
Head Pastor
Our pastor grew up in Akron here in Springfield Township. At the age of eight he would surrender to preach the gospel. Wanting to serve in the military, he spent four years in the Air force after graduating from Springfield High School. Following his call into the ministry, he pursued a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in Education. After completing his education, he returned to the Akron area and has served as the Senior Pastor of Millheim for the past 35 years. Our Pastor brings the Bible to life and teaches how to make the word of God applicable in our everyday lives. He leads with an in-depth knowledge of God’s Word and a true heartfelt passion for Christ. The congregation at Millheim loves his refreshing sense of humor and infectious smile. He is a true inspiration to those in his congregation by living out the compassion and love of Christ. His wife Kathy lost her battle to cancer in 2016. Pastor Lawrence has two children as well who are grown
David Lowther
Associate Pastor
Dave grew up in Springfield Township and still calls Springfield Township home today. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1989, and in 1990 he married his high‑school sweetheart, Jenny — who also graduated from Springfield High School.
Dave has been involved in pastoral ministry in several area churches for nearly 30 years, faithfully serving the Lord and His people. He was ordained many years ago at The Chapel of Prayer in Akron, a moment that helped shape his lifelong calling to ministry.
He has served as the Associate Pastor at Millheim Baptist Church since 2022. Dave oversees many areas of ministry, especially everything from nursery through 6th grade, including:
• The Sunday School department
• Kids4Truth Clubs
• The AWANA program
• The Upward Sports ministry
Dave loves the Lord with all his heart and has a deep passion for reaching children, strengthening families, and supporting the entire church body.
He and Jenny have four children named Robert, Abel, Momiana and Raina and a Frenchton dog named Stella who keeps life interesting. Dave loves this church and every person who walks through its doors — from the youngest child to the oldest adult.

Luke Johnston
Youth Ministry Leader
Luke Johnston grew up in the Akron/Canton, OH area and graduated from Manchester High School in 2018. He became committed to the Lord’s calling to preach when he was a teen, and has been serving and training for that calling ever since. Luke attended Greentown Bible Institute for further ministry training, and has continued his education in biblical studies, theology, and practical ministry. He has worked in youth ministry, evangelism training, discipleship, and preaching ministry. He has a passion for helping youth get to know the Bible, walk with God, and build a personal faith in Christ Jesus.
At Millheim Baptist Church, Luke leads the youth ministry to be grounded in the word of God, walking with Christ, sharing the gospel, and trained through one-on-one discipleship. Luke and his wife Mikayla are blessed to serve the Lord with their family together and God has blessed them with three wonderful children. Luke loves the church, the people of God, and seeing them grow in knowing Jesus Christ and making him known to others through his word.
