What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Millheim Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God.  We believe and accept the scriptures as our authority.  (2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; three in-one, co-equal, which is the Trinity.  (1 John 5:7)

We believe Jesus Christ was the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

We believe the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin.  He indwells the believer and empowers the preaching and teaching of the Word.  (John 16:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Acts 1:8)

We believe the death of the Lord Jesus Christ was according to scripture (Isaiah 53:10) and was a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all mankind (Romans 5:6-10) so that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13) and be justified by His shed blood. We believe man was created directly by God in His own image.  (Genesis 1:27) We believe man is a sinner, fallen from original righteousness; and, apart from God’s redeeming grace, is hopelessly lost.  (Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3) We believe man is justified solely by faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ; resulting in forgiveness of sin and his being born into the family of God by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit.

We observe the two ordinances given by the Lord Jesus Christ: Baptism and Communion. Baptism is by full immersion to commemorate the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-4) Communion is a memorial of the New Testament, which commemorates the substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.  The bread signifies His broken body and the fruit of the vine represents His shed blood.
